In 1876, wealthy barrister Charles Bravo was poisoned with antimony at his home, The Priory, in Balham, and died after a slow and painful decline. Despite multiple inquests and huge media attention, no one was ever convicted, leaving the case one of Victorian England’s most enduring unsolved mysteries.
